Medellin Postal Service/Shipping: International mail and courier services are good. Besides the Colombian postal service, you will find international services like FedEx, DHL, Deprisa and Servientrega. Do not expect overnight service on International packages as they generally have to clear customs in both directions.

Medellin Faxing and copying services. Most hotels offer fax service as do many Papilieras (stationary stores).  Most stationary stores also offer copy services, laminating and many are internet cafes.

Medellin Translation Services: Many of the local language schools offer translation services for documents, attending business meetings or serving as guides around the city.  If you have to record any document at a local notary for any reason, it must be translated into Spanish first.  These services are generally quite reasonable and charge by the page or hour.

Medellin Guides-Several companies offer local English speaking guide services to take you around and show you the city, museums, parks, malls etc. They will serve as translators, show you the best places to buy stuff, where to eat, where to party and provide you a more meaningful insight into the local culture.  More importantly, they will keep you from wandering into areas or neighborhoods that might not be safe.

Medellin Tour Companies-There are a number of well managed tour companies that offer everything from horseback riding, white water rafting, finca (farm) and coffee plantation visits, parasailing, tours of other cities, rock and mountain climbing, museum and church tours.

Medellin Nightlife-There is a lot to do and see at night in Medellin.  Medellin Nightlife is generally at its peak between Thursday through Saturday nights.

Medellin Sports- What would a trip to Medellin be without attending a local Futbol (soccer) game and watch the exuberant local fans cheer on their favorite team.  If you are visiting, it is recommended to wear neutral colors and sit in the neutral stands as sometimes the fans can get pretty rowdy.  Bull fighting is still a time honored cultural tradition in Medellin. The bull fights are scheduled in January for 6 weeks if you happen to be traveling here during that month.

TennisThere are some excellent clay courts at Estadio (the stadium) with tennis camps and a full tennis store.

Cycling- is also very popular in Medellin but be prepared for some serious hill training and challenges.

Paragliding: Because Medellin is in a valley surrounded by mountains it is an excellent venue for paragliding with updrafts. This sport is becoming more and more popular with locals and visitors alike.

Paint Ball: This new sport has hit Medellin with a bang (pun intended).  There are several paint ball courses and even intra country competitions are held here.

Jogging is popular through the tranquil neighborhoods of Poblado and surrounding cities.  Watch for large cracks and holes in the sidewalks.

Hiking- Nature trails exist for the hiking enthusiast. The last Sunday of every month, the Institute for Sports and recreation schedules hiking trips to rural areas around Medellin. The small towns of San Cristobal, Palmitas, San Antonio de Prado, Santa Elena and Altavista are points of departure or arrival.  During the hike, which takes about 6 hours, you will climb hills and reach the highest points of the city.  You will also be able to appreciate the beauty of the city from these vantage points. In order to take part in this activity, you will need to call the Inder offices at 260-6611 about the point of departure and be there Sunday at 8:00 AM. There is no charge for this activity.
