There are basically three modes of ground transportation for getting around Medellin;

Taxis; Probably the best and quickest mode of local ground transportation in Medellin. Taxis with English speaking drivers.

Bus; Less expensive than taxis but there are some things you need to know.

The Metro Also a less expensive means of local ground transportation in Medellin. Safe and fast as well.

Others to consider;

Rental Car Not recommended for first time visitors but a great way to make some day trips to nearby cities like Santa Fe de Antioquia or El Penol.

Touring Van Touribus Good way to see the sites of the city in 1/2 a day.
