Whether you are looking for clothes, shoes, arts, crafts, jewelery, furniture or textile products, Medellin is a great place to shop.
Well known for it's textile industry, local branded clothing can be very reasonable. Medellin is also well known for it's leather products and manufactures shoes, belts, wallets, purses and a great many equestrian products.
You will find many unique one of a kind paintings in Medellin Art galleries painted by local artists. There are also many unique one of a kind jewelry pieces made by the local street vendors.
February is the best time of year to shop in Medellin when the whole town is in "sale' mode.
The upscale Medellin malls at Oviedo, Tessoro, San Diego and Unicentro provide a safe and delightful experience for retail shopping in Medellin. Venture into the catacombed shops and street vendor stalls in El Centro (El Hueco, La Palacia Nacional etc) for a truly unique shopping experience and great wholesale bargains. Whatever their asking price, negotiate usually 15-20% off their first offer. If they won't budge, just walk away. You will find the exact same or similar item down the street or a few shops away.
And, always count your change!

All along Calle 80 are store after store of various types of furniture and accessories.
Itague is often called furniture row with 4-6 blocks of furniture stores lining both sides of the road;
There are upscale furniture stores located in El Tesoro Mall;
In El Centro behind the Museo de Antioquia are several blocks of lower cost furniture stores. Most of it made in Antioquia.
Computers, Printers and Accessories: Monterrey Mall has just about anything you would need for computers or electronics including peripherals, media, cables and more.

Most manufacturers have representatives on site to answer your questions and try to convince you to buy their brand. Diamonte, a two block area across from the stadium, where better prices can be negotiated.
Beds and bedding-The only one we can recommend is Comodismos. They are located in every mall and stand alone stores spread throughout the city. They are all factory owned stores. They frequently have promotions, discounts, free accessories etc. They offer a wide range of models and prices. They are not the cheapest but if a good nights sleep on a quality mattress with a long term guarantee is important to you, you do not need to shop any place else. Delivery is free and your bed is made to order (they do not maintain stock in their stores).\
