This week in
Medellin!
Medellin is home to some of the oldest and most beautiful churches in South America. Most of them are Catholic. There are several tour companies that visit different churches of historical interests in the city.
Paisas take their religion seriously. As such you should respect the reverence of the location with dignity. Taking pictures varies from location to location so ask first. Many do not have websites.
Probably one of the oldest (1868) and most prominently visited churches in the city is Basilica de Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria. The towering Iglesia del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus is one of the largest structures in downtown Medellin and is hard to miss.
The vast majority of these churches are huge, overpowering structures built in the late 1800's through the late 1940s.

In our opinion, one of the most beautiful churches in all of Colombia is found in the city of Jardin.
